Napoleon III (1852-1870), 2 francs bare head 1854 struck at Paris.

Obverse: bare head of Napoleon III left, signed BARRE below the neck, legend NAPOLEON III EMPEREUR. Reverse: denomination 2 FRANCS and date within a laurel wreath, legend EMPIRE FRANÇAIS. Mint letter A (Paris) in exergue.

Light contact marks on the obverse relief. Deep grey toning with golden highlights over the original mint lustre. Mint State.

Note: the 2 francs is one of the most difficult denominations to assemble in high grade. Struck in modest quantities and subject to genuine circulation, it rarely survives at this level.
