Obverse: bare head of Napoleon right, legend NAPOLEONE IMPERATORE E RE, date 1813, mint letter M (Milan). Reverse: crowned great arms of the Kingdom of Italy, the imperial eagle supporting the shield on a mantle, legend REGNO D'ITALIA, denomination 2 LIRE.

Proof strike, the devices lightly satin and the surfaces barely toned, close to as-struck condition. Proof.

Note: this example shows an unrecorded date variety. The date 1813 was re-engraved on an earlier die, an 8 remaining clearly visible beneath the date. The reverse also shows the triangular halberd points characteristic of this die.
