Obverse: jugate busts right of the young King Charles Louis and his mother the Regent Maria Luisa, legend CAROLVS LVD. D.G. REX ETR. ET M. ALOYSIA R. RECTRIX. Signature L.S. of the engraver Luigi Siries. Reverse: crowned grand arms of the House of Bourbon, legend DOMINE SPES MEA A IUVENTUTE MEA, in exergue FLOR. and date 1807. Edge in relief, with LIRE DIECI incuse. Hammer privy mark of the mint master Giovanni Fabbroni.

Slight circulation wear, attractive grey toning. Mint State.

Note: the Kingdom of Etruria was a short-lived state created in 1801 on the territory of Tuscany within the Napoleonic sphere, entrusted to the House of Bourbon-Parma. Charles Louis, who came to the throne as a child in 1803, reigned under the regency of his mother Maria Luisa until the kingdom's annexation by France in 1807, the very year of this striking. A coin of a brief period, at the crossroads of Tuscan history and the Napoleonic epic.
