Third Republic (1870-1940), gold 50 francs Génie, 1896, struck at Paris.
Obverse: the winged Genius of Liberty, standing, engraving the Constitution on a stele. To the left a lictor's fasces, to the right a cockerel. Legend RÉPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE. Signature DUPRÉ below. Reverse: within an oak wreath, denomination 50 FRANCS and date 1896. Legend LIBERTÉ ÉGALITÉ FRATERNITÉ. Mint letter A (Paris) in exergue.
Prooflike appearance, mirror fields and satiny devices. A light scratch on the obverse and a few handling marks. Mint State.
