Charles IX (1560-1574), écu d'or au soleil, 1565, struck at Nantes.
Obverse: crowned shield of France bearing three fleurs-de-lis, surmounted by a sun, legend CAROLVS VIIII D G FRANCORVM REX. Reverse: cross fleurdelisée, cantoned with C's and crowned fleurs-de-lis, a sun at the centre, legend CHRISTVS REGNAT VINCIT IMPERAT.
With the sun on both obverse and reverse. Slight straight clip at 8 o'clock. A lightly circulated example, golden patina. A very rare example for the Nantes mint. Mint State.
